Why we had to build a sandbox for StreamAlive
The latest news from StreamAlive and the world of online, offline, and hybrid live events.
Hi there!
Before we get into this week’s newsletter, don’t forget to register for the upcoming workshop on how to build an online audience on September 14th at 12 noon EST | 9:30 pm IST.
If you have ever thought that you need to be more active on social media, then this workshop is unskippable.
Manish Pandey has built a following of hundreds of thousands of people across his social media channels, and both he and Abhishek Ponia have worked with celebrities and influencers to help grow their personal brands.
There will be a recording so if you can’t make it, we’ll send you the recording afterwards (register for the recording).
What’s a sandbox, anyway?
We’ve been listening to our user feedback over the summer and one recurring theme was:
I don’t have a live session right now, so how do I try out StreamAlive?
Well, you can always connect StreamAlive to a Zoom meeting, create your own in-person session, or connect to any of the other livestreaming platforms we support at any time to try out the audience interaction features.
However…
It lacks that magical component as there is only one person in the meeting (you!) and you’re not seeing the chat box ‘come alive’.
That’s why we built the StreamAlive sandbox.
The sandbox lets you play around with StreamAlive as if you were running a real live session.
It comes pre-loaded with our most popular audience interactions, and it simulates real audience responses in the chat box.
You can even get involved and type your own responses in the chat box and see them appear on the screen.
Try StreamAlive’s most popular interactions
See what it’s like for your chat box to be on fire during an interaction where everyone is getting involved. Try it out!
We’ve pre-loaded multiple audience interactions and hundreds of audience responses.
The only thing left for you to do is to add your own responses to the interaction and experience how StreamAlive makes your audience feel seen.
The StreamAlive sandbox is an interactive simulator
If you’ve put off trying StreamAlive because you didn’t have an upcoming live session, now’s the time to try it out in the sandbox.
If you have questions or feedback regarding the sandbox, hit reply or email us at hi@streamalive.com.
If you want to try out StreamAlive in a real live session, see our help videos on how to get started with your preferred platform.
The Slide-Streaming & Livestreaming TL;DR
It’s been a busy week in the world of livestreaming and slide-streaming. Here’s a rundown of the stories we’ve been reading:
📸How do virtual meeting backgrounds work?
Google breaks down how they are able to add a virtual background to your video without you needing to be in front of a green screen. They analyze every frame of your video stream and add the background image. Given that video streams at 30 frames per second, the algorithm only has milliseconds to analyze and apply the virtual background to each frame.
🎰What’s on at TwitchCon Las Vegas 2023?
TwitchCon is happening from October 20th to the 22nd in Las Vegas this year. They’ve just announced the show floor, and there are a lot of exciting sessions to check out. Where else can you get a pair of customized Crocs while playing retro video games and trying to understand what Shell Gas Stations has to do with gaming?
⭐5 Reasons you should be attending Zoomtopia
Reason number one: StreamAlive will be there! However, Zoom has put together 5 other reasons, including experiencing how a true hybrid event is run, learning how AI is powering Zoom’s latest innovations and a glimpse into the future of hybrid and remote work.
🕹️The growing trend of livestream retro-gaming
Retro gaming is a growing community and trend on YouTube, experiencing 1000x growth between 2007 and 2023—although we have to wonder how many videos were actually being uploaded in 2007. Retro gaming includes collectors of games, historians, players doing speed runs, retailers, preservationists, modders, hackers, commentators, and more.
