Why are your webinars so boring?
The latest news from StreamAlive and the livestreaming community.
Hi there!
There are 13.1 million search results for “why are webinars so boring” with every one of those results offering “advice” on how not to run a boring webinar.
I use quotation marks around “advice” because most of those articles are so full of the same fluffy, filler content that I wonder if the authors have ever run a webinar in their life.
They say generic things like:
Plan your agenda before you start - well, duh!
Offer amazing content - seriously? That’s a tip?
Speak enthusiastically and don’t read from a script - cue multiple umms and ahhs and y’knows
Use professionally designed presentation slides - as if that’s going to make or break your boring webinar.
The list of useless advice that makes very little impact on audience engagement goes on and on.
But do you know what does turn your bore-inar into a highly engaging webinar?
Letting your audience feel heard and part of the event. It’s the one thing that makes the difference and none of the top 10 results I read mention it.
If you want to start making your webinars work harder, join us on July 26th at 11am EST | 4pm BST | 5pm CEST | 7:30 IST where we show you how.
Host webinars, not borinars. Craft sessions that engage and convert!
In this session, we are putting our money where our mouth is. Not with lifeless tips in an article, but in a real, live workshop so you can see for yourself how fun and entertaining a webinar can be.
You will learn…
How to get the audience fired up and engaged from the moment your webinar starts
How to use simple "no thinking required" questions to keep your audience engaged
Use dynamic visual aids like word clouds and emojis
Build anticipation by choosing random winners
How to let the audience guide the conversation by voting in polls
And much more!
(We’ll send you the recording if you’re unable to make it, but trust us, you’ll want to experience the webinar live!).
So…what do you do?
It’s a question that almost all of us answer with what we do for work.
How boring is that?
When everyone is answering that question with their work, becoming the most interesting person in the room doesn’t have to be that hard.
Join us for this interactive workshop on August 2nd as we help you craft a better answer to: “what do you do?”

Livestream TL;DR
It’s been a busy week in the livestreaming space. Here’s a rundown of the stories we’ve been reading:
💰NewEgg adds millions of dollars of revenue by embracing livestream commerce
Two years ago, a tech e-commerce firm, NewEgg, had no livestream commerce plans. Today the livestream commerce team has 25 employees and livestreams 24 hours a day. Not only is the venture profitable, but it is also reaching a wider audience than advertising can while adding millions of dollars of extra revenue.
🎨TikTok to offer cash incentives to influencers to fuel social commerce growth
As social commerce hots up in the US, TikTok has unveiled new incentives for influencers to promote products and earn affiliate commissions and bonuses. Creators that generate $3,000 in sales can look forward to earning $1,000 bonuses plus affiliate commissions.
🤝Zoom makes hybrid conference rooms more inclusive with Intelligent Director
With half the workforce in the office and half the workforce remote, hybrid meetings can be a tricky path to navigate when it comes to inclusivity. Zoom has launched Intelligent Director which uses AI to automatically switch cameras to get the best view of the speaker, for example, if they stand up to go to the whiteboard or look away from their laptop.
😤Boost your online meeting productivity with this weird breathing exercise
Scientists claim that, and I have to quote this, “slow breathing techniques in a conscious and systematic way stimulate the rest and digest response managed by the parasympathetic nervous system which offsets the stress response of the sympathetic nervous system.” All that seems like a very scientific way of saying don’t forget to breathe in your meetings.
