How we’re building StreamAlive’s marketing for an LLM future
If you’re anything like me then you are turning more to chatGPT and other LLMs to answer your most complex questions.
There’s something about giving an LLM more personal context that makes the answers feel more relevant to you.
Then there’s Google’s AI overviews in the search results. Stealing clicks from companies like Monday.com and Hubspot.com which built their brands on the back of answering top of funnel questions like “effective project management”

28% traffic loss from Google search
Between March 2025 and July 2025, the StreamAlive website lost almost 30% of traffic from Google Search. Until that point, we had been growing month on month.
So what happened?
In March of this year, Google fully rolled out the AI overviews in the search results, eating up all the clicks that otherwise would have gone to StreamAlive.

Of course, these things are part of the great contract between Google and business owners. Specifically, Google can do what it wants and business owners have to gladly accept it and be thankful for whatever crumbs Google throws our way.
What you might notice in the chart above is a small uptick in our search traffic in August. In fact we got 16% more traffic from Google in August than in July
So what did we do?
We created more content.
For every keyword we want to rank for we’re creating different types of content.
Blog posts
Help desk articles
YouTube videos
Use case articles
The results have been pretty darn amazing. In August we noticed that the AI overviews were citing multiple content types by StreamAlive to provide an answer for various target keywords.
Of course, the AI overviews are still eating a lot of our clicks, but it has also helped us recover a small amount of traffic.
Now here’s the weird part.
Search engine traffic that’s clicking through from an AI overview is converting BETTER than clicks without an AI overview.
In effect, the AI overview is acting like an independent advisor, pre-selling the visitor on the benefits of StreamAlive, so when they come to our website, they are ready to sign up.
The chart below shows our signup volume from search engines (sorry, I’m not allowed to reveal actual numbers at the moment!).

We (like many other SaaS websites) took a big hit in May, June, and July, but recovered in August as the traffic was converting better and September looks like we’ll beat what we did in March.
SEO and search is changing, but LLMs might not be the hammer blow that kills off search traffic and conversion just yet.
Next week I’ll show you what we’re doing to increase our visibility in chatGPT and other LLMS by 237% since January.
