đ The 1-2-3 method you (probably) should be using for your presentations đ
The latest news from StreamAlive and the world of online, offline, and hybrid live events.
Hi there! In this weekâs newsletter:
New presentation screen for your slides and interactions
#StreamAliveShowcase âIf I had to build a community from scratch, this is what I would doâ - the founder of The Product Folks community with over 180,000 members tells us how he would build a successful community if he had to do it all over again
The 1-2-3 approach to your presentations to make them sizzleđ„
Why our CEO believes that no UX is the best UX
New presentation screen for your slides and interactions is butter smooth
If youâve used StreamAlive (and if you havenât, whatâs stopping you? Seriously, weâd love to know!) then you should be familiar with the presentation screen to show your slides and interactions during your session.
Weâve updated the design and UI, along with a few tweaks under the hood to make it run smoother than ever.
It will still look familiar to anyone who has used it, but it will just feel a bit âbetterâ to use.
Thanks to our users who told us that physically âstartingâ an interaction felt like an unnecessary step. Now your polls, word clouds, maps, etc. all start automatically the moment you open them. And they stop when you move to the next slide.
Another piece of feedback we got was telling users how many slides were in your presentation was a distraction to your audience. If you have 120 slides and your audience knows that, they might start to tune out! Weâve removed that and now just tell you what slide number youâre on.
StreamAlive will only get better with feedback like this, so let us know if you think something needs to be added or changed!
#StreamAliveShowcase building an online community
How would community building master, Suhas Motwani, build a successful online community if he woke up tomorrow and had to start from scratch?
Suhas is a co-founder of The Product Folks, a community of over 180,000 members. Heâs going to teach us the exact steps he would follow if he had to start from the beginning.
If youâre a creator with an audience, a product like StreamAlive with a userbase, or an enthusiast who wants to bring people together, this #StreamAliveShowcase event is for you.
Youâre going to learn:
Whether starting a community is right for you and how much resources youâll need to put in to it
How to go from 0-100 members and actually have people interact with each other
How to know when your community has reached that critical mass that it becomes âaliveâ
When to bring in outside help to manage your community
As always, registration is free but seats are limited, so save your seat today.
We also have some more exciting #StreamAliveShowcase events coming up and weâd love to have you join us for them as well!

The 1-2-3 approach to presentations that is the opposite of what most people do
When preparing to give a presentation, most people spend their time on the slides.
Our CEO, Lux Narayan, does the exact opposite.
1x = time spent on creating the slides
2x = time spent on the narrative, AKA âwhat will I sayâ
3x = time spent on delivery, rehearsal, and ensuring he can say what he wants to say in the time available.
This skill was honed when he was a TED speaker and they force you to go over your presentation again, and again, and again, and again until you know what youâre going to say forwards, backwards and possibly sideways.
What weâve been reading
What have car keys got to do with StreamAlive?
Thatâs what Lux wrote about in a recent FastCompany article about how the best UX is no UX.
To get back to the questionâŠ
You donât know that your keys are missing until you need them. Theyâve become such a frictionless piece of user experience that we donât even notice it any more.
Likewise, good UX in todayâs apps is perhaps no UX at all.
In other words, the technology we interact with daily should fold so seamlessly into our regular lives that we donât know itâs there.
Think about Grammarly. If youâre a regular user you know that you donât notice it until youâve made some typos or had some awkward syntax.
If youâre an ad blocker fan, you donât notice it working in the background until you visit a website that refuses to let you view it until you turn off your ad blocker.
Whatâs this got to do with StreamAlive?
For your audience, they donât realize that they are using StreamAlive when they engage with your polls, word clouds, maps, and other interactions.
All they have to do is âput it in the chatâ.
StreamAliveâs âno UXâ approach makes it so simple for everyone to interact. Thereâs no new UX to learn and no learning curve. Itâs as frictionless as it can possibly be for your audience.
In the article Lux goes on to talk about three ways any product can integrate seamlessly into your usersâ lives based on the learnings of StreamAlive.
