That dreaded email no employee wants to receive
The latest news from StreamAlive and the livestreaming community.
Hi there!
There are two emails that no employee wants to receive…
Please join us for the Q3 town hall
Team building exercise dates are confirmed!
Now there’s nothing inherently bad about town halls or team-building exercises—it’s just that they are often done badly.
The best cure for insomnia
Take town halls for example. Has there ever been a better cure for insomnia?
Most of them are one-way conversations between the leadership team and the employees. Sure, time for some questions might be scheduled at the end, but there’s always either no time or employees are so zoned out after the leaders have waffled on for 60 minutes.
For most town halls and all-hands meetings, anything different is an improvement. The easiest place to start is to ditch the standard slides and charts and talk to your employees directly.
5 Ideas for your next townhall or all-hands
Get them warmed up by asking where they took a vacation or plan to take a vacation this year
If you have lots of remote employees joining, ask them where they are joining from so everyone can see how global the company is
Run a poll about how they think the last quarter went—not just the leadership team
Ask them what the company is doing well at right now—town halls are meant to be two-way conversations
Ask them what they are most excited about for the upcoming quarter
If you’re looking for more ideas on how to ensure your all-hands meeting or town hall has employees fully engaged rather than bored to sleep, join us for our upcoming webinar.

Livestream TL;DR
It’s been a busy week in the livestreaming space. Here’s a rundown of the stories we’ve been reading:
🎤Fans are increasingly trying to become part of performers’ shows
Rock concerts are no strangers to crowdsurfing or stage invasions, but audience members trying to insert themselves into a concert is becoming more frequent. The NY Times ponders whether this is a paradigm shift in the artist performing for the crowd to the crowd and artist moving to a two-way relationship.
👮♀️Twitch streamer causes chaos in Manhatten
Kai Cenat, a Twitch streamer and YouTuber, told his 6.5 million subscribers that he’ll give away Playstations and other gifts if they turned up at a park to see him - and turn up they did, in their thousands. The total number of arrests is still being tallied, but this level of fandom which used to be reserved for the biggest actors and musicians is now achievable for anyone with a camera and an internet connection.
📽6 Latin American YouTube creators share their journey to 10m subscribers
6 content creators talk about how they hit 10M subscribers by focusing on relatable short videos and targeting Gen-Z viewers. Interestingly they also talk about embracing livestreaming in the future, beyond just short-video formats.
