On becoming the most interesting person in the room
The latest news from StreamAlive and the livestreaming community.
Hi there!
If there’s one question you always answer incorrectly when in a social setting, it’s: So…what do you do?
How many of us are guilty of answering it with what we do for a job?
🙋♂️🙋♀️🤚
And unless you tell them you’re an astronaut or professional athlete, the conversation can fizzle out quite quickly after that.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Using a simple framework based on my book “Name, Place, Animal, Thing”, you can craft an answer that can help you become the most interesting person in the room.
On August 2nd @ 11am EDT | 4pm BST | 5pm CET | 8:30pm IST, join us for an interactive workshop to help you and everyone else craft the perfect reply to “what do you”.
Join us to learn:
Why your job is a closed conversation
Craft a response that invites further conversations
How to instantly be the most interesting person in the room
Everyone is welcome, even if you are already an astronaut.
PS. If you can’t make the workshop, register now and we’ll send you the recording afterwards.
When all-hands meetings become no-hands
An all-hands meeting should include all the hands in the meeting, so why are so many townhalls a one-way conversation between the senior leadership and all the hands?
In our upcoming webinar, we tackle how to run more effective townhalls to ensure all your employees feel heard and participate in the meeting.
Learn how to break the ice to get employees listening and engaged with the townhall instead of what’s on their phone
Learn how to use simple audience engagement tools to keep the attention of employees focused on the meeting
Turn the live chat into a back-and-forth conversation between employees—an employee using the live chat is an employee that is tuned in and engaged

Livestream TL;DR
It’s been a busy week in the livestreaming space. Here’s a rundown of the stories we’ve been reading:
💬Twitch adds Hype Chat to allow viewers to purchase messages
You know that the live chat function in livestreams is broken when people are willing to pay money to have their messages seen and heard. Twitch’s new Hype Chat function allows viewers to pay $1 - $500 to have their messages pinned to the top of the chat box for everyone to see.
🤑How creators are making money by livestreaming
Livestreaming isn’t just for gamers and other NSFW content. Lawyers, rappers, and even ‘sleepfluencers’ are making a healthy living with their livestreamed shows. During the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial, ‘lawtubers’ were pulling in six-figure sums thanks to the SuperChat tipping function in YouTube.
🗣️How to use Zoom Team Chat - according to Zoom
Did you know that Zoom has a Slack and Teams-like chat feature? A key line in this article says “when you are receiving a ton of messages, chat can feel like a lot”. We couldn’t agree more. When you have lots of chat messages flying by, no one gets heard. That’s why we built StreamAlive—to make sure the audience feels heard as an active part of the livestream.
