Have you ever seen a living tree root bridge?
The latest news from StreamAlive and the world of online, offline, and hybrid live events.
Hi there!
The last couple of weeks some of the StreamAlive team has been meeting up in person with Lux and Tina as they do a whirlwind trip to India.
While we love that we are a remote-first company, getting everyone in the same room for a few days has been time well spent.
Not least because it gave the team an excuse to go out and explore the living tree-root bridges of Meghalaya! Check out the full video of the team experiencing a true wonder on Instagram.
More info about these incredible structures on Wikipedia.
How do you minimize the risk of going freelance?
For our next #StreamAliveShowcase event, we have Will Bachman joining us to teach our community of users how to set up a profitable consulting practice, and more importantly: how to find high-paying clients.
BONUS: Everyone who signs up gets free access to Will’s coaching course on how to become a successful consultant to high paying customers. Normally it’s $500, but Will is offering it for free to the StreamAlive community!
This will be a jam-packed 60-minute workshop with a lot of content to cover, including:
What you need to start doing NOW if you want to go independent in the next two years
How to find the right clients, and how to attract high-paying clients
Optimizing your LinkedIn profile to attract clients
Identifying what skills you have that solve critical business problems—this is essential because if you're only solving painful problems then you'll struggle to find businesses willing to pay you money
Contract pitfalls to avoid when you sign on clients. Deliver value but don't be held hostage to unreasonable terms!
New UI improvements to Run of Show
Thanks to Sachin, our lead UI designer, the Run of Show has had a small overhaul to make it more intuitive.
Adding icons of the audience interactions and thumbnails of the slides has made it super-easy to see how your presentation is coming together.
We’ve also added the ability to see the Run of Show in a grid-based layout. The larger icons and thumbnails make it even easier to get a quick overview of your presentation.
Another small UI change you may have noticed but couldn’t put your finger on why it looks better is due to a new font and new font sizes. It’s the tiniest of changes, but these little things can make an incredible difference to the user experience.
Sachin applied visual hierarchy design principles to guide the eye around the UI and lead the user through the app. It’s the subtlest of things, but when we compared the before and after designs it was astonishing how much better the app looked.
The Slide-Streaming & Livestreaming TL;DR
It’s been a busy week in the world of livestreaming and slide-streaming. Here’s a rundown of the stories we’ve been reading:
💼Microsoft Teams for townhalls now supports up to 20,000 attendees
I’d love to know which organizations are getting 20,000 attendees to their townhalls. Aside from a Townhalls update, Microsoft announced a ton of new features such as portrait blur in video calls, live transcripts in up to 30 different languages, collaborative meeting notes, and a whole new meeting dashboard.
🤝Twitch adds collaborative Streaming
Called Stream Together, it allows up to six streamers to collaborate off-camera to produce entertaining streams for their users. It allows streamers to combine their shared viewership and merge the chat stream from the collaborating streams.
📊People spend more time streaming YouTube than any other service
YouTube keeps its crown as the world’s most streamed platform, beating Netflix, Prime, and others. Thanks to content creators, sports commentators, and music, people are choosing YouTube over other services when it comes to finding something to watch.
🛍️Best Buy invests in livestreamed commerce for the holidays
To improve connections with their customers, Best Buy is kicking off livestream commerce for the holiday season. They’ll be offering special pricing to viewers to pull the crowds in. The stream will be hosted by TalkShopLive which is making big inroads to the US livestream commerce market.
🎤Patreon is acquiring Moment to add livestream ticketed events to its platform
