Cracking the secret to on-demand viral content
The latest news from StreamAlive and the world of online, offline, and hybrid live events
Hi there!
When someone in a senior leadership position comes to the marketing team (or a client comes to their marketing agency) and says:
I’ve got a great idea, let’s make a viral video to promote our product!
The sighs are audible as the marketers in the room collectively roll their eyes so hard they fall out 🙄
Except maybe one person: Devaiah Bopanna.
Poll results: Most people think creating viral content is an art form
We were curious whether people thought creating viral content is a science—a reusable template or sequence that anyone can follow to produce similar results.
Or an art form. Where gut feelings and experience are the crucial factors.
Or, it could simply be luck. This is what our followers on LinkedIn thought:

Back to Devaiah Bopanna…
Can you reverse-engineer a viral post, video, or article?
Does understanding your audience at a deeper level hold the code to virality?
Or is it all just a game of chance?
To find out, we’ve invited Devaiah Bopanna to join us on our live session this week.
📆 August 16th
⌚12 noon EST | 9:30pm IST
He has led the creative team on advertising campaigns for CRED, Disney+ Hotstar, Shark Tank, Lenskart and many other brands. He is the producer of the national award-winning documentary film 'Borderlands' (2021).
(We usually record our live sessions but the material Devaiah is giving away is so valuable he’s requested no recordings be made. So, if you want to learn from the pro, save your seat and show up!).
Upcoming poll: Are cliches actually useful?
This week we’re talking about cliches in business or your everyday language. On one hand, a cliche is overused and loses its impact, but on the other hand, they are easily understood by everyone.
What do you think? Let us know in this week’s poll. Check the newsletter next week for the results.

Livestream TL;DR
It’s been a busy week in the livestreaming space. Here’s a rundown of the stories we’ve been reading:
🥊The Musk vs Zuck cage fight will be streamed on Twitter X
Apparently, the Musk vs Zuck cage fight really is a real thing. Two tech billionaires slugging it out against each other. I can’t see this going well for Musk, but if it’s livestreamed on Twitter X then maybe it’s the beginning of his “everything app”.
💰TikTokers make $7,000 a day acting like robots
It seems like there’s no limit to what viewers will pay money for. The latest craze on TikTok is creators acting like non-playable gaming characters when they receive a tip. These reactions can go viral, causing more viewers to send tips to see streamers’ reactions.
🛍YouTube is focusing on creators over livestream commerce
Given that Walmart, Amazon and other social networks are embracing livestream shopping, it’s curious that YouTube seems to be going the other way—shutting down its Indian livestream shopping channel earlier this year. By focusing on creators and creating an audience first, perhaps YouTube will introduce livestream commerce in the US at a later date.
